Lauren Hodge, PhD

As a researcher in the field of psychology and behavior change, Lauren’s experiences implementing strategies for change help to set her apart from many coaches and mindset practitioners. She researched, developed, and delivered evidence-informed programs for parents and professionals experiencing high stress across a range of contexts, from natural disasters to pandemics, with complex risk factors such as housing difficulties, domestic and family violence, child abuse and neglect, and infant and baby developmental difficulties.

Lauren has worked in multiple countries and served as a consultant to the World Health Organization’s Department of Mental Health and Substance Use. For eight years, she researched the positive parenting program alongside the program founder and developers and worked at the international head office in Australia. This parenting program is used in more than 25 countries, including the US, and has the world’s largest evidence base. It is number one on the United Nations’ ranking of parenting programs, based on the extent of its evidence base.

Working directly with parents in the positive psychology program, Lauren honed her coaching process. Yet it was Lauren’s own personal battle with burnout years ago that fuels her passion for helping individuals identify their core values and goals, and live intentionally today. Her coaching framework is informed by social, behavioral, and neuroscience research to help people experiencing chronic stress adopt and sustain healthy practices and behaviors that enhance their lives and relationships. Lauren brings this wealth of knowledge to her clients, offering personalized strategies to help them navigate their paths to a more authentic, fulfilling, and longer life.

After years of publishing and speaking on expert panels, she’s now bringing her collected learnings directly to you, through her consultancy and coaching services and courses.

Originally from South Carolina, Lauren loves taking nature and beach walks with friends and listening to podcasts about the science behind human behavior. She highly recommends ice baths and sauna sessions to reduce inflammation and get a quick boost of positive energy.

What I do differently

Applied Research

I’ve identified the specific habits and strategies that ultimately improve our ability to move through life less overloaded by inner turmoil. My hope is that given the magnitude of our challenges today, we can begin working together to move toward states of greater inner peace. We can learn to cope with uncertainty and adapt to big changes. We can weather the transitions in our personal and family lives. I’ve seen it happen.

As a coach of evidence-informed wellness methods, I use only techniques that are known to improve social and emotional wellbeing, build intentional self-regulation and executive functioning skills, motivate positive action, and improve self-awareness with trauma-informed care. I’m not a therapist, but my coaching program is a great complement to other forms of therapy.

Parent + Individual Focus

While I originally began working on behavioral and emotional support for parents, I’ve developed a program that serves parents and non-parents alike. This program will help you deal with chronic stress in our lives today — from coronavirus-related changes to isolation, burnout, and more. Each of us has moments of prolonged stress in our lives, for a variety of reasons. This program can help you walk through the fire and come out stronger for having done so.
